Gluten-Free Expo Slovenia: A Celebration of Flavour, Community and Inclusion
Imagine a place where those with coeliac disease, gluten intolerance, or anyone who avoids gluten for personal or health reasons can feel at home, and where food isn’t a limitation but a celebration. That’s the heart of Gluten-Free Expo Slovenia.
What and Where
Gluten-Free Expo Slovenia is a two-day event held in the picturesque medieval town of Radovljica, located in the Gorenjska region of Slovenia. The main event takes place on Sunday 28th September 2025, with special culinary workshops, dining events and other activities beginning on Saturday 27th September leading up to the main Expo day. The venue is Linhart Square (Linhartov trg), a central, beautiful, and accessible town square in Radovljica.
Why It Came About
I founded the Expo to meet a growing need. While gluten-free food options are expanding around the world, people with dietary restrictions still often struggle with limited access, uncertainty and feeling excluded in food cultures that assume gluten as standard. As someone living with coeliac disease, the I was acutely aware that more than just food was needed – there needed to be an inclusive space: information; vendors; tastings; a chance to learn, share and enjoy without worry.
Gluten-Free Expo Slovenia grew out of that vision: to create a festival-like environment where gluten-free isn’t an afterthought – it’s front and centre.
Why Radovljica?
Radovljica provides more than just beauty and charm. As well as being my home since I moved to Slovenia in 2007, it’s also an accessible location for people travelling by train and bus, with excellent infrastructure and a strong tourist tradition. Linhart Square, in particular, is pedestrian-friendly, scenic and has the capacity to host both food stalls, demonstration kitchens, talks and accompanying entertainment. The town’s identity as part of Okusi Radol’ca / Taste Radol’ca (the gastronomic identity of the Radovljica area) also helps tie the Expo into the culture of local food, hospitality and community values.
What You’ll Find
Expect a full programme of:
- Hot food stalls offering pizzas, burgers, local Slovene specialities, vegan options, sweet treats, and more – enough variety that food alone is a reason to come.

- Talks and panels on coeliac disease, nutrition, how to manage gluten intolerance, resources and lifestyle.
- Special dining events: a ‘Two Chefs Dinner’, a Farmers’ Feast Lunch, and themed cookery workshops.
